Parson Russel Terrier

The Parson Russell Terrier, also known as the Jack Russell Terrier, is loving, perky, devoted and totally fearless. Their hunting instinct is even stronger than other terriers.

Hailing from England, the Parson Russell Terrier was bred to hunt foxes. They’re a clever breed that are extremely independent and lively. Parson Russell Terriers are intelligent but, due to their willfulness, may be difficult to train. They have a mind of their own and get bored quite easily. They may be restless if not kept fully occupied, which may lead to destructiveness.

That said, Parson Russell Terriers excel in dog sports such as agility or flyball. They are extremely good at learning tricks and will play fetch until your arm is about to fall off. They love to chew, bark, dig, run around the house, chase cats, and find a loophole in any command.

Parson Russell Terriers are, however, great family dogs. They are devoted to their people and loves to be around him. They’ll make a great running buddy, too. They’ll make you laugh with their mannerisms and funny personality.

Major Health Concerns:
Some Parson Russell Terriers are prone to dislocation of the kneecap, inherited eye diseases or deafness. They may also have Legg Perthes, a disease of the hip joints found in small breeds.

Interesting Fact: Parson Russell Terrier is the recognized conformation show variety of the Jack Russell Terrier.
